Moving Forward Prologue

Moving Forward

Why on earth did I tell him? This was her first thought before her eyes opened, taking in the dingy hotel room she'd fled to. With its yellowed sink and smoke scented wallpaper, Daniela knew she'd clearly lost her mind and had gone from worse to worst. Groaning, she kicked off the covers and struggled to sit up and face the day. Just put one foot in front of the other and survive she told herself as she walked to the sink. Memories of the last afternoon flashed through her mind, the strength of the quiet disgust and hatred in his voice and sound of the door clicking shut made her flinch. She'd hurriedly packed as much as she could, after he'd left giving her a few hours to remove her things from his domicile. Even in anger, he'd always been much in control and somewhat civil. Still it cut her to the core to know he could betray and treat her like this, without so much as an inkling of notice.

The quiet sighs of her contentedly sleeping child brought her back to the present. Daniela looked at Sadira's sleeping form and vowed they would survive. Somehow.
